Welcome – March & April 2025

As we shake off the chill of winter and welcome the first signs of spring, it’s time to embrace the longer days, blooming gardens, and exciting events in our community. Welcome to the March & April issue of Bellfields & Slyfield Pages, packed with local news, inspiring stories, and helpful advice for the season ahead.

This issue, we’re delighted to feature an exclusive interview with Mr Goulborn, the new principal of Christ’s College, as three Year 7 students put their questions to him—what a fantastic way to get to know their new headteacher!

Car enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the Guildford Lions’ Classic Car Display returns in April, while music lovers can look forward to the Surrey Police Band Concert on March 15th. And, of course, our ever-popular home-grown crossword is back to test your puzzling skills over a cup of tea.

We also take a moment to recognise Tony & Tess Lees, who have dedicated an incredible 32 years to leading the 2nd Guildford Scout Group—what an achievement! Meanwhile, Home Counties Carers share important information on Attendance Allowance, a little-known benefit that could provide crucial support for pensioners.

Over at Guildford Cathedral, a new Dean has been installed, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. North Guildford Food Bank explains how they work to reduce waste while providing vital support to local people, and Timothy Spinks returns with more valuable advice on improving our sleep.

As we approach Easter, Kirsten Rosslyn-Smith, Vicar at St Peter’s Shared Church, reflects on the question: What gives us hope? And for those with green fingers, The Worplesdon Garden Club shares their top gardening tips for March & April.

We hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to catching up again in May & June!
